A true proportional scale increase of the orginal KA Butcher design, the Mega Butcher is an absolute beast! 8" OAL when open, and closed it is 4 3/4" in length while standing almost 2 1/2" tall!
This full custom, hand built example was constructed as a linerlock out of .125" thick 6al4V titanium. Think of this build as a scaled framelock. Speaking of, the scales are natural brown canvas micarta and paired with Ti bolsters wearing a hand applied satin orange peeled texture. In fact all the titanium parts have been painstakingly (and finger burningly, real word?) given the same texture on a 8" wire wheel. This texture not only looks fantastic, but is amazing resilient to wear.
Various milling details add depth and interest to the frame and the backspacer as well, but the most striking visual is of course that blade. Cut from a beautiful piece of stainless Damasteel and Freehand ground by Dave in an asymmetrical compound ground, the presentation side is stepped around the "Kingdom" logo and merges in line with the very high hollow grind on the reverse side. The huge swedge on the nose further complicates the grinds and creates a unique Diamond shape as you look down the tip. Known as "Odin's Eye" and etched per Damasteel Labs instructions, the tight ladder pattern on this blade really pops in its contrast!
The wool felt slip sheath was sewn by Dave, specifically for this folder, on the same West German sewing machine he's had since he was a kid. Thanks to his mother for insisting that he learn to sew!
A waterproof case further complete the package.
