Fresh off the bench, and the first folder of 2021 built specifically for release on the Stag Shop

Although a Rook at the heart of its design, this folder has a few departures that are a first for Dave. Most noticeably, gone is the spydie flick 'centric mid placed opening hole in this blade. Instead, not only has this blade shape been adjusted with a sloped nose but a traditional titanium thumb disk has been installed on the spine for that purpose. Made most famous by Bob Terzuola, the God father of the "dress tactical" genre, it is the first time Dave has ever opted to use one in a folder build.
Also of note, the blade on this folder is a full flat grind as opposed to Dave's usual hollow grinds. The centrally placed blade fuller adds some unique interest to the blade and provides a nice underscored spot for the "kingdom" stamp. That fuller detail is echoed back into the frame construction as well.
Constructed of 6al4v titanium, this folder was built out as a titanium bolstered and OD green G10 scaled linerlock. Of substantial heft, Kingdom linerlocks are more akin to a "scaled framelock" making them impressive in their own right. As a .125" thick lock is about what most other makers use as a framelock thickness. The key to using such a massive lock, is gauging all the other materials to match. That is seen when you turn the frame sideways and notice that scales and bolsters appear to be different thickness from left to right. In total however both frame sides equal out to .187", creating a balanced folder that is the same frame size as a framelock... .just much more complicated to fabricate.
One last subtle, but unique thing to note about this frame is the integral bolster/liner on the presentation side. Where as most folders would be built using separate pieces, ie: a thin liner, with a separate bolster and separate scale attached to that... Dave elected to take a solid piece of Titanium and mill away the rear portion to inset the scale as the only loose piece on the presentation side. Probably missed at first glance, this construction method is a much stronger way to built the knife and eliminates one more screw in what would otherwise be another separate bolster.
The clip and back spacer for this knife were also hand fabricated out of matching Titanium, and given the same hand applied wire wheel orange peel texture. The full length back spacer is a newly designed style and only the 2nd time it has made an appearance in a custom build, with its full length and protruding lanyard tail. Often asked to add a lanyard hole to his folder designs, Dave elected instead to just redesign the back spacer to accommodate both a lanyard should you choose to use one but to also serve as a glass breaker detail. Various edged milling details add interest to the back spacer and spine.
Riding on phosphor bronze washers around a stainless and titanium pivot fabricated by Steve Kelly at Ti Connector, this folder is tuned to be smooth and flick-able with a solid lockup. Carbidized lockface offers a clean release with no stick, and ceramic detent offers long lasting and positive engagement.
