Finnish 12/2 pattern by Kellokoski 1930's to late 1940's
Original maker's mark, crown logo, and pattern ID present ..... Heritage Chop on the opposite side above brass retention screw (which was a common field expedient fix for a loosening head back in the day).
-
Probably the most popular Finnish axe pattern, although most were made by the Billnäs Bruks (forge) as Kellokoski wasn't as big an operation (so these are a bit harder to find). This particular mid-century Finnish piece was acquired in Finland via a Swedish web listing. Yes, Dave is random and looks high and low for these things... while making good use of google translator.
-
Cleaned, stripped with a Refaced poll, hung on a 25" long haft done in a Finnish style with the rounded pommel. White ash handle custom hand fabricated in Quebec by Trinity Boletus along with leather snap sheath. Finnish blue handle paint detail for a little extra flair!
-
Probably the most useful of all the Scandi axe designs. Dave carries one just like it in his truck.
