KA Custom Rook

Having recently completed a year long, world wide show tour with Spyderco this Rook is now back and ready for a new home. It is serial #4 in the Rook design, made in April of last year. This was the first knife design specifically designed for middle finger "spydie flicking", placing the sypderco hole (used under license) more centrally located and naturally where you're middle finger would be placed on the frame. The resulting blade and frame change is subtle, but unique within the industry... 

It is constructed as a 6al4V Titanium frame-lock, utilizing a Ti pivot collar as both a lock-bar stabilizer and over-travel stop. The presentation side is configured as an integral Ti bolster/liner with peeled texture G10 scale. (meaning the scale started as a .187" thick slab that was milled down to accept the scale.... the liner is part of the bolster) The back-spacer and clip are also Ti, the latter is my "bent" style low profile clip. Not just a simple bent clip having been fabricated from .063" material, it still requires 3 milling passes before being hand bent.

The blade is hand hollow ground CTS-XHP with a milled jimping detail on the spine, wearing a durable satin stonewashed finish. All titanium has been given a wire stripped, satin orange peel texture which is both clean and classy looking as well as being easy to touch up. Lockbar face has been carbidized for a long lasting smooth releasing surface, which locks solid at 25% on face currently. Blade rides on phosphor bronze washers and a ceramic detent, and is extremely smooth.
