KA Custom One-Off Fixed Blade - First Fixed Blade of 2019
Every so often Dave explores random design ideas as part of his growth process both as a maker and artist. Most efforts produce a unique one-off piece that never ends up becoming a regular K.A. model, but instead stands alone by itself as a singular piece never to be duplicated. This fixed blade is just such a piece...
Constructed from Swedish RWL-34, sculpted and hand hollow ground into a modified wharncliffe design. It was given a two tone satin and acid-washed finish to highlight the spine sculpting details that also continue up onto the black G10 scales. The remaining material is peel textured, and affixed to the blade using titanium bolts.
A short but stout concealed carry piece was the exercise here, and this little pig's foot of a blade fits the bill nicely. The over-sized "spydie hole" detail in the blade adds both visual interest but also a practical index point for your thumb during detail cutting work. Stepped up and milled jimping adds a secure place for your thumb to land at other times.
The black kydex sheath was pressed by Dave, retains the blade with a firm "kydex clack" yet draws smoothly. A Blade Tech Tek-Lok allows for a multitude of carrying styles and positions.
