KA Custom Mega San Mai Sparrow

 Mega Sparrow Ti Framelock w/xhp core san mai Damascus

Only the second or third Mega Sparrow Dave has made (we’ll figure that out and include those details on a COA). Made with a hand-contoured 6al4V Titanium frame lock, wearing a wire wheel applied Satin orange peel texture. The frame is mechanically stabilized using Rick Hinderer’s LBSS disk, which Dave uses under license along with custom pivot hardware fabricated by Steve Kelly up in Montana.

Most noticeable with this build of course is that blade material! Chad Nichols hand forged San Mai stainless Damascus with an XHP core. Hand ground and finished off in a multi-step deep etch process that raises the pattern veins in the steel. Tumbled then etched again, the result is striking and brings out a dimension not afforded to a traditional single dip etch.

The Sparrow is a folder design that goes back to some of the first folders Dave made, circa 2009 or so. Temporarily retired as a design, the sparrow is now back and super-sized into a beast of a folder… a Sparrow that isn’t easy to miss.
