Please welcome the "Kraken" to the Kingdom Armory custom lineup! This new model is a large format fixed blade designed with a nod toward the Piratical in it's appearance. A slight bend upward along the length of the spine in conjuction with a widening blade width combine to create a unique elevated tip orientation. The increasing blade belly as you near the tip also makes for a powerful slicing blade.
This particular fixed blade is serial #1 and is numbered as such. Made from double hollow ground RWL-34 and heat treated by bos, it has been giving a nice satin tumbled finish. The scales were fabricated from a specialized canvas micarta that is used by nearby helicopter manufacture, Erikson Aircrane. The color is a deep orange/brown. Titanium bolts affix the scales to the blade, and the addition of a hand milled blood groove runs partially down the blade on both sides.
The sheath was a joint venture between Dave, here in the K.A. shop and Jonathan Cotton at Apocolypse Sheath in WA. Both men had a personal hand in its creation and manufacture. It is a coyote brown kydex arrangement, with an overlay that holds a leather and kydex hybrid belt loop. The back of the split leather loop also contains a large D ring that is intended to facilitate the convienent attachement to a pack via the use of a carabiner, etc.. A fire-steel has also been incorporated into the sheath's construction. Afterall, a useful knife is made so much more by a good sheath!
