KA Custom Hawthorne Damasteel Framelock

The Hawthorne design dating back to 2014, was an exercise in creating a medium-size hard-use and extremely practical folder for EDC. The curved frame geometry allows the knife to tuck back nicely into a pocket when carried and reveals a modified drop point blade with an impressive amount of belly and cutting edge for its size when open. Ergonomically very comfortable in the hand, the sweeping curve to the design also orientates the tip and forward most cutting edge below the knuckle line and into the cutting task.

This folder's frame is made from 100% 6AL4v titanium, completely hand fabricated, contoured, and finished with a wire wheel-applied orange peel texture.  Most striking however is the Vinland patterned stainless Damasteel blade. Forged in Söderfors Sweden out of a foundry originally started in 1676, the material is a work of art just in itself. This piece was hand cut, shaped, and hand ground, and wears an etched blade finish in the bright satin grey tone Damasteel is so famous for.

Spydie hole used under license. Very flickable, the folder locks up securely at about 30% on the face with a clean release from its carbidized lock. Further lock bar stabilization and overtravel protection is accomplished by the installation of the industry standard Hinderer Lock, also used under license from Rick Hinderer.
