KA Heritage Swedish Shingling Hatchet
A turn of the last century (late 1800's to early 1900's) Hand forged roofer's shingling hatchet / northern European tomahawk. An exceptionally cool hand forged peice, this artifact of history was created for a utilitarian job but made with enough flair that you wonder if the original blacksmith had a fascination or interest in the "new world" and its Native American roots. Particularly the Indian Tomohawk. Because if this guy wasn't thinking "I want to make a tomohawk" when he set off to pounding, my name is Donald!
Located, aquired and shipped to Dave from a contact in Sweden. This one arrived much as you now see it, sans the Rydbom Chop logo and the custom fabricated handle. A little time on the wire wheel, and the head was off to Quebec and Emile's hands. Set loose with a free reign, Emile carved a nicely flaired straight hammer style handle out of kiln dried white ash.
Upon return, Dave branded the head and was set loose with a MAP PRO torch get a little creative with the burn detailing. Feeling the American Frontier vibe that this thing seems to exhude, Dave burned in the Kingdom lettering in reverse image using an American Craftsman inspired Frank Lloyd Wright styled lettering. Bringing a bit of the American Prairie Architecture influence and Arts and Crafts movement into the look here... just felt like it completed the design language that started over a century ago!
Comes razor sharp, with a hand fabricated leather snap sheath to protect it.. and you!
