Picked up from a source in Sweden, this hand forged axe remains a bit of a mystery. Forge stamped "NKMANA", Dave has been unable to suse out much information about it's origins. Built in a pattern very similar to Swedish Hewing Axes running from the mid 1800's through the mid 1900's, this one was built much heavier and compact than most others. Almost a "multipurpose" effort here, to create a heavy felling axe that could also be used to square up beams afterward like a purpose built hewing axe would be used for. Or maybe we're overthinking it... and it's a short fat hewing axe by intention.
Regardless, it is now a Heavy Felling so sayeth Dave. Whatever physco, it's still RAD whatever you say it is. Hand-tatted by a previous owner "OHS", no doubt either initials or an acronym for "Ohi Hate Shite" (or something similar). It is now cleaned, stripped and gold pen signed by our resident Pater Familius.
Hung on a 28" Full burn detailed White Ash haft, that was hand crafted by restoration expert Emile Bournival out of Quebec Canada. The thin whippy nature of this handle just begs to be swung with it's graceful curve and balance. Emile wisely crafted an oversized pommel in a squared off profile, that will help keep this thing firmly in your hand!
Hand tooled leather snap sheath protects then cutting edge.
