KA Heritage - Ancient Swedish Hatchet

Every so often Dave comes across pieces that date back hundreds of years, with some being verified by metal composition and design originating in the 1600 to 1700's. These pieces still exist! Sitting in homes, sheds and barns in Scandinavia and Northern Europe.

This particular hatchet runs that vein! Hand forged in Sweden in what Dave would estimate to be the late 1700's to early 1800's based upon the design shape, construction, patina and high iron content. A multi purpose tool of the time to work with and carry into the birch forests hunting and foraging, it still shows it's design heritage dating into the viking influences of the area. It arrived totally crust covered and took days in the electrolysis tank to de scale, as well as plenty of time on the wire wheel. Man was the time spent worth it though! 

Expertly hung on a hand fabricated white ash handle by Emile Bournival in Quebec, Emile incorporated graceful curves and flairs that just seem to compliment the head design. I don't think this piece has looked better in 200 years! Truly a piece of history, this thing just resonates when it's in your hand. The real deal. Get rid of your cosplay axe and stick this in your belt next time you dress as John Snow. Whatever you do, own it with confidence. Plus who's going to laugh at you when this thing comes out. Museum nerds be damned.
