KA Full Custom Rook Framelock Folder - Jigged blade texture

The Kingdom Armory Rook was the first knife specifically designed for middle finger "spydie flicking", placing the sypderco hole (used under license) more centrally located and naturally where your middle finger would be placed on the frame. The resulting blade and frame change is subtle, but unique within the industry and has become a staple in two different folder designs for Dave. The Rook and the Rogue.
This particular folder is constructed as a 6al4V Titanium frame-lock, in a "slime-line" manner using .125" thick material. The brass shoulder saddle overlays are an ode to some of the vintage cleaver restorations Dave has done in previous years, and have a nicely hand shaped curved contour to them. These serve a dual purpose in this folders aesthic as both an interesting viking'esqe detail but functionally as a lockbar overtravel adding stability to the mechanics of the design. Some milling details further interest to the frame, and the slots cut in the tail function as a lanyard hole should you desire (A design carryover from a series of Dauntless folders Dave designed for TAD gear years ago).
Having utilized a jigged detail in various handle materials, Dave wondered why not try that effect in blade steel. That process proved both expensive and frustrating as hundreds of dollars worth of end mills and cutters were worn out and trashed in the search for the right tool for the job and speed to operate it at. Like most things in life though, I think the persitance paid off! The result is a jigged texture, done in Swedish RWL-34 stainless and to our knowledge is the first time the jigging jump has been made from bone, bronze and Ti... into blade steel.

The blade was then hand hollow ground which created an interesting fade to the jigged texture around the grind lines. The upper swedge detail is also hollow ground, giving the blade a bayonet styled look in what is essentially a modified Sheep's Foot design (The upper swedge is unsharpened). The way these multiple grinds come together in the sloped nose is particularly intersting, creating a diamond shape detail. A satin stonewashed texture fininshes things off.
All titanium has been given a hand applied wire stripped, satin orange peel texture which is both clean and classy looking as well as being easy to touch up. Lockbar face has been carbidized for a long lasting smooth releasing surface, which locks solid at 20% on face. Blade rides on phosphor bronze washers and a ceramic detent, and is firm but extremely smooth. Akin to closing the door on your German saloon, if you're a fan of the Grand Tour.
Pen Style titanium pocket clip was hand also hand fabricated, and requires over 18 different fabrication steps on its own. Folder will come cased and wrapped in a custom KA Battery Hank.
