KA Custom Jiblet

The Jiblet is a design that is Dave's imagining of a "pocket fixed blade". If you were going to toss a small fixed blade in a coat pocket, or stash one in a small pack this would be your knife. Small, ultra light weight with a huge drop belly... this knife really does have a lot going on for it in a very small envelope. 

The blade shape is a drop belly, modified spear point so it lends itself well to general purpose cutting as well as more specialized gutting and skinning chores like a traditional "bird and trout" design might be employeed for. Made from RWL-34, heat treated by Bos, the hand ground high hollow grind does a great job of getting down to a nice cutting edge in a blade this size. The decorative ebossed etching adds to the industrial steam punk vibe of this piece, and is a vintage filagreed gear mesh design. Applied in a series of steps, the overall finish has three diferrent tones ranging from acidwashed, to greys and into bright satin finishes in some areas.

Scales are contoured and antique patina'd marine grade brass, that have been affixed using a Titanium bolt anodized to match. As is the nature of a reactive metal, brass will continue to age and patina over time and use. To aid in "locking" in the look of where it's at now, Dave has clear coated the brass to protect and seal the state of that finish at this moment.

The grey kydex sheath was fabricated by Dave to be a simple yet multipurpose arrangement, that allows for a multitude of carry options.  The loop of cord currently attached allows the rig to be carried as a neck knife, remove that cordage and the IWB clip lends itself to use as a boot knife or tucked in the waistband... as the clip is designed to loop over and lock onto a belt. Take that off by simpley unscrewing the two attachemet screws and the clean sheath now dissapears into a pocket with miniumal "printing".  The half circle notch is there to aid in popping the sheath off during a draw. For a little extra flare, Dave drew a stag shed on the sheath.
