Only the 4^th or 5^th Mini Rook made (Dave will figure that out prior to shipping, and COA it accordingly), this particular folder is a real showpiece. Beginning with the intention to create a "gentleman's" folder, Dave selected high end materials and executed an elegant, slim, trim and lightweight piece in this build! Of particular note is the patterned blade in Swedish Damasteel, sourced from Damasteel Labs in Söderfors, Sweden... which is just north of Upsala and not far from the birth place of the Rydbom family in Linköping.

A high hollow grind, complicated into a prominent swedge creates a thin, slicey, and supremely unique blade affect in the Rook blade shape. A light and bright etch, brings the pattern to a nice pop but still maintains a clean bright satin finish. As with all Dave's blades, the heat treating was handled by Paul Bos HT.

The 6al4V titanium frame was hand fabricated and given a contoured finish that really does a nice job of trimming the frame and making it very comfortable to both hold and carry. A bronze anodizing finishes off the wire wheel applied orange peel texture, and nicely accompanies the flame-colored clip that was milled from Chad Nichols TiMascus. Just look at that lightning bolt patterning and colors in the clip! Details truly do matter.

Worth mentioning as well, the backspacer was fabricated from high carbon steel and for something unique and different... was case colored in the age-old manner of burying the piece while red hot in powdered horn. (in this case, deer antler from a blacktail harvest for the family manner years ago) This methodology not only produces a slightly hardened encasement of the workpiece, but creates a colored effect to match the theme of this folder in its bronze and blue hues.
