Make way for the Butcher as he comes for some wolfsbane and nightshade, of course wearing a waistcoat of particular note!

 -

The iconic Kingdom Armory Butcher built here in a full custom variation, inspired by and themed into the world of dark London back alleys and poison tinctures of a lost apothecary. Perfect for the long shadowed season in which we find ourselves.

 -

Leaning into the formal yet coal soot soaked dark vibes of Edwardian England and It’s industrial revolution, Dave set out on a path to create something truly unique here. A folder that told a story in its execution and appearance, a folder that straddled history in its affect, and that may have been crafted 200 years ago just as it was this week.

-

Hand forged Chad Nichols TiMascus was used to fabricated every part of this folders frame, from backspacer and clip to lock and scale. Cut, milled, and hand ground into the contoured profile you see here, the magic of this material really presents when a torch is applied at the end. Being a heat reactive multi alloy amalgam, TiMascus can be coaxed into a rainbow of varying colors that bring out and highlight the pattern, much like etching Damascus steel.  In this case, those colors are a field of Golds with veins of purple/blue twisting throughout the material.

-

The pivot collars you see on this build were fabricated from Swedish Damasteel, deeply etched to raise the veining then high polished. In this application, those collars serve as a mechanical device to stabilize the lockbar and function as an “overtravel”. Exactly the same function as a Hinderer LBSS, just installed closer to the lockface and done in a bit more seamless install.

-

Finally, the blade and business end of this folder tells the rest of the narrative. Hand ground from CPM154 into the complex grinds only seen in the custom Butchers, this blade literally tells the rest of the story. Decoratively etched in both filigree and lettering, the lock side of the blade reads “Apothecary” while the presentation side displays a banner of the KA Stag Skull, declaring that “your fate is in your hands”.  This multi step process requires stenciling the blade in detail prior to deeply etching it all in ferric chloride. Next the blade is cleaned, tumbled and begins the process of hand polishing at the buffing wheel. Painstaking and time consuming, the end result however is truly unique and eye catching!
