This original BtB-f or Bill the Butcher - folder, makes an appearance in this build as a more formal and shiny "dress tactical" affair. Arriving at the party ready for business, but wearing a "waistcoat of particular note."
This Titanium framelock is built using .187" thick 6al4V Ti with a hand-contoured CC'd profile with a touch of decorative milling for good measure. The clip was also hand fabricated from the same material and is a 17-step hand-milled process to fabricate just by itself! A satin wire wheel orange peel texture on all the Ti gives it a classy appearance, but one that will wear extremely well over time.
You'll notice that the pivot collars were not only added for decorative purposes but on the lock side function as both an overtravel stop and lock bar stabilizer. They are also 6al4V titanium.
Obviously, the most striking feature of this build is the Blade, which is hand-ground stainless Damascus forged by Chad Nichols in Blue Springs, Mississippi. This particular material is a "CORE" damascus. Meaning there is (in this case) a piece of stainless CTS-XHP sandwiched in between Chad's "Boomerang" pattern. After being ground to reveal that core, the blade was given a very deep etch prior to being laboriously hand -buffed to a high polish. The result is a very unique 3D effect, almost akin to a topo relief map. Or waves on a beach? Or... maybe I just really want a Mai Tai right now, but I'm not supposed to drink as much as I once did. But, it tastes so good when it hits my lips, but Dave, you're now 25% body fat and you need to give up something. (Wait, what just happened here?) Thin to win? When grinding this blade at least!!!
Heat treating was handled by Bos in Post Falls, Idaho. The blade rides on phosphor bronze washers with a ceramic detent, carbidized lock face, locking up firmly at 25% on face. Super smooth and flickable with a clean and easy release.
