Interest in Medical tools and antique scalpels has spawned this design and really isn't surprising when you consider that Dave is surrounded by 6 medical professionals within the immediate family—the damn black sheep.

Akin to a 19th-century cadaver scalpel design, from when you did not throw away your tools but instead cleaned them and kept going. Sure you passed a few infections on along the way, and maybe spread a little hepatitis C from patient to patient... but it's not like you're Pam and Tommy! But I digress.

Hand-ground from CPM154 wearing a high polished deep and decorative filagree acid etch, leaning into the old Edwardian vibe when medical students were also grave robbers, stealing cadavers for study. Look it up! The ripper wasn't the only tripper in the neighborhood and in fact... there is a theory... ah, never mind.

The tailpiece of this scalpel is worth notation! A very cool piece of DarkTi has been fabricated and contoured to create that old derringer-style handle. Hand forged Titanium and Zirconium, twisted, patterned, and forced into a single material by Chad Nichols. Instead of being anodized or flamed into a blue color, Dave elected to torch this material to bring out the Black Zirc then buff everything into a high polish, bringing back the high contrast of the white Ti and Black Zirc. Brass pinned and epoxied in place, you should be good to go if you need to sterilize this in an autoclave after use.

Small enough to use as a necker or unique conceal carry fixed blade, while being large enough to fit the hand well and not forget inside you're buddy's guts when you have to remove his gall bladder at elk camp emergently. You're welcome, now have a whiskey and pass me that suture kit!

Oh! And that leather sheath was made by Dave this week and is set up for horizontal SOB or appendix carry. (So convenient to have it that close should you need to remove an appendix!) Flame torching and other various distressing techniques add to the vintage vibe of the leather.

Get out there and do some "Studying".
